For the last few years, Melody had the pleasure of collaborating with Associate Professor Rae de Lisle on an exciting new resource teaching and learning piano technique.
Rae de Lisle is one of New Zealand’s leading pianist and piano educator. She has consistently produced award-winning students, many of them are now established performing pianists and pedagogues all over the world. The book Fit 4 Piano is an illustrated multimedia resource which covers the most basic movements one use to play the piano, demonstrating how simple exercises apply to teaching and playing at all levels in the most artistic and expressive way. It is also the result of a lifetime of research to resolve issues of tension and stiffness in playing and assist in the prevention of playing-related injuries. The techniques shown in this book allows the student to naturally progress from the earliest beginner to a professional level of playing, and are techniques Melody uses everyday in her own teaching. Each exercise is described and shown by Melody on video, and explanations for teachers are included in the interactive pop-ups. More than 80 HD video excerpts of demonstrations and repertoire examples by Rae de Lisle show how they are relevant whether playing the easiest pieces or the most advanced. You can find out more about Rae and this book here. |
